Eating Habits and Whatnot

Your mom always told you to stop being a picky eater- that you had to eat a balanced diet, to eat all the things on your plate, eat your vegetables, blah blah. Well, I know my mom did. So I used to listen to her, you know, sat there at my dinner table and really just sat there with my a*s rooted there to the chair until everything was cleaned off my plate, making faces at her in my mind. Just because she brought me up that way, didn't mean that I didn't grow up a picky eater, and a picky eater I am, that's for sure.
So, sorry mom, but I am a defective young adult, now fully enjoying how picky I get to be with what I eat now that I'm at college and I get to eat or not eat, just exactly what I want. Let me tell you about the lunch I had today, just because it was so indulgently picky of me and I felt like the happiest spoiled child ever. I even tweeted about it.
The victim of my picky eating was salad, so I think I did pretty well, considering I even had salad to begin with. Except for the fact that I only eat salad if it has chicken in it. Today's salad was coconut chicken salad. Usually I don't go for those funky, healthy-sounding salads because god knows what they do to it just to get people to eat it...but despite the pineapple pieces and crispy coconut sprinkles, I decided the salad was worth getting because the cafeteria hardly ever makes salad with chicken in it.
So like any spoiled picky eater with the freedom to do as she pleases, I went up there with the black salad tong and picked out the parts of the salad that had a lot of chicken in it. I basically ended up with mostly chicken, some lettuce, some roasted peppers, pineapple slices, and those purple onions. And my god, it was delicious. Only because I pushed the onion slices to the side of my plate and concentrated mainly on devouring the chicken. By the end of the plate, 1/5 of my plate was a pile of onions. I think it's pretty good that I cleaned off the rest of the plate even if the chicken was the only incentive for me to eat the lettuce and the other "vegetables."
I went up twice more. Today was a salad day. Two more plates of chicken-oriented coconut salad. When I went up to put away my plate, half of it was a pile of onions. I really, just don't like them, but I'm pretty sure my mom would have been proud to hear that I had three plates of salad. As long as she doesn't know that I went up and picked out the chicken from the huge bowl of salad while most people just tonged out whatever they came upon.
I think I eat pretty efficiently. My eating habits? They work perfectly for me!

Maaan, that sounds good. I don't know how long you've been out here, but if you haven't been, go to Chipotle, the burrito chain.
